How to Enable GPA on Report Card?

Step 1 : You need to set up credits/hours to Subjects

Go to Modules > Manage Class Section & Subjects > Select Class > Select Section > Add Subject Credits

Step 2 : Add Grading Points

Go to Modules > Assessment & Grading > Grade Setup > Grading Scales

Add/Edit Grading Scale (Grades) > Enable Set Grade Points for GPA Calculation

Step 3: Enable GPA on Report Card

Now on Report Card Format > Edit the Report Card

Under "Data Variables > Assessment Scores > Score Table Settings" click on ⚙️ button to open the scores table settings.

In the next window, enable "GPA" and select the grading scale which is having "Grade Points" enabled.

Now go to Report Card > Search Student >View Report Card

GPA is calculated with Subject Credits/hours and the grade points which you set on the grading scale with the overall scores.

Formulae for GPA Calculation

  • Earned Grade Points - (Grade on assessment's GPA Score x Subject Credit/Hours)

  • Total Credit/Hours - is the total credits/hours of all the subjects in the report card.

  • GPA Points = Total Credit Points / Total Credit/Hour

Explained with Example:

Step-1: Grading Scale Points

Here for an instance I'm using the below attached grading scale

Step-2: Enable "Credits/Hours" to Subjects

Here we're using 10 credits each.

Step-3: Capture scores to student

Now let's grade a student, we're using 2 Assessments common to both subjects as below:

SUBJECT - SPANISH

In the above attached screenshot student has overall score "60.02/100" for Grading Period - Semester 1 to subject Spanish

SUBJECT - ENGLISH

In the above student has secured "52/100" in Grading Period-Semester 1 to subject English

So the GPA calculated on Report Card is as below.

Step-4: Calculated GPA on Report Card

The calculated GPA of report card is as below:

Step-5: Deriving Calculation

Grading Scale Used in Report Card Setting

Computing Grade Points

English

  • According to Grading Scale, Subjects which has overall score - 41 to 60 has GPA Point = 4

  • English Subject has Credits - 10

Therefore, English GPA Points = 4*10 = 40

Spanish

  • According to Grading Scale, subjects which has overall score - 41 to 60 has GPA Point = 4.

  • Spanish Subject has Credits - 10

Therefore, Spanish GPA Points = 4*10 = 40

Total Credit Hours = (English -10 + Spanish -10)

= 20Total Grading Points

= (English - 40 + Spanish - 40)

= 80

GPA = (Total Grading Points / Total Grading Points )

= (80/20)

= 4

Same compute happens to the other grading period as well.
