Adding Classes and Sections within a Class

This article describes how to add classes and sections within a class.

An administrator can add classes in two ways:

  • Entering individual class details from the Add Class region on the Manage Academics page.

  • Uploading a data file that contains class and section data for import from the Settings > Import/Export region.

Prerequisites

To add a class, ensure that you have created the departments within which you want to add a class. 

Manually Adding a Class

The steps to manually add a class are:

1. On the Main Dashboard, click Modules

2. In the Academics region, click the Manage Class & Subjects link.

The figure below shows the Main page with the Class & Subjects link highlighted. 

The Manage Academics page appears. 

3. Click Add Class on the left panel of the Manage Academics page

4. In the Add Class region that appears, enter the following details:

Class Name: Enter a class name.

Class Code: Enter the class code. 

Students Limit: Enter the maximum number of students across all sections. The number of students in all the sections added together should not exceed the limit you specify here. 

Department: Select a Department from the drop-down list.

The figure below shows the class details region.

Click Add.

Click the Close X icon to close the Add Class region.

You can even add the class by just clicking on the "+" icon with reference to the below screenshot.

Similarly, Sections can also be created by clicking on the add and choosing the sections from the dropdown.

You can even add the sections through a shortcut by just clicking on the "+" icon displayed next to the section block with reference to the below screenshot.
